Just in case you did not have enough to worry about I have included a link to an interesting article on the 25 surprising things Google knows about you from e-Justice blog http://tinyurl.com/cxb6vm. Google has a number of services that are useful and free (pause) from the user making a monetary contribution. What is not free is the data you contribute everyone time you use Google’s services as well as any other online programs. There’s money in these data points and we tend to leave a lot of data bits every day.
Stephen Baker in his book the Numerati, http://thenumerati.net/, states that every person who visits Yahoo’s network of advertisers leaves a trail of 2,520 clues. Someone has to piece them all together and here comes the Numerati to the rescue. Stephen Baker suggests that we are “witnessing and experiencing the mathematical modeling of humanity.”
So back to Google. If you read the 25 surprising things Google knows about you, you realize some of the data points you leave are more manageable than others controlled by your actions. The interesting point to remember is that we leave a lot of data every time we do something that is digital, electronic or filled out on paper and later inputted into the digital world. Leaving data is neither inherently good nor bad; just something to be thoughtful about in your daily life. e-Justice blog suggests “Read on, and find out all of the dirt that Google has on you.” I add a reminder that it is not just Google, not all dirt and it is everywhere these days. The benefits of the digital world are vast. There are ways to minimize some of the risks and enjoy the digital revolution we are experiencing by the actions of us users.
If you have a desire to receive more information on new developments from a variety of sources you can look at my blog http://www.birdsonginfo.com/, bookmark it or take it as an RSS feed. I have a tongue in check commentary on the "The Next and FINAL Economic Stimulus Package Formula," and a source for all the March Madness fans. Plus, if you are into cycling, see which is better Race Across AMerica or Tour De France. As my blog tagline states I am “Hoping to Nudge Good Thoughts and Information into the Worldly eCloud.” I tend to post different information and thoughts on a more frequent basis than my newsletter. Thanks for your time.
