If you are interested in a website that has a lot of business information on it BNET (from the CNET folks) is a great place to start (http://www.bnet.com). They have categories for management, strategy, insight, business library, and work life. Each has topics and articles relevant to the category. In addition, there is an option for My BNET if you have signed up as a user. It allows you to save and tag information you want to keep. As of this writing, on the home page there are crash courses you can take for:
- How to Run an Effective Meeting
- How to Manage Your Boss
- How to Sell an Idea
- How to Fire the Employee Who is Holding You Back and
- How to Gather Competitive Research.
The information is useful and in-depth for some business users.
Business Search Example
My search centered on Web 2.0. I am currently doing some research on this topic and wanted to see what was available. I typed in the word web 2.0 in the BNET search box and received a blog with no post and a video by Andi Gutmans of Zend explaining what web 2.0 means. The web 2.0 information was not new to me yet in another article on supply-chain I found some valuable information.
General Search Example
I have long realized I am a multi-tasker. Sometimes a bit too much of a multi-tasker, so I selected the work life tab, clicked on master your multitasking and listened to a video by author David Allen on Getting Things Done. My take away from this video is that my lists are not going away and his recommendation is to manage lists with a focus.
I hope 1/3 of the way into this year you are enjoying your time. If I can help you with any research please call.
